Pugh’s side won 21 wins from their 22 matches, racking up 92 points in the process and losing just one league match – 14-6 away at runners-up Vardre on January 20.
“It’s a fantastic achievement considering where we’ve come from the last couple of years,” said Pugh.
“Promotion was definitely one of our main aims but considering where we were last year with the training numbers and commitment levels, I think even that was a little bit far off. But we have exceeded expectation levels, definitely.”
On some of the key games throughout the campaign, Pugh reflected: “Rhigos away would probably be a key one when we won 3-0 on a disgusting day. Things like that stand out.
“We’ve also had some lucky escapes, the Friday night game at home to Crynant where we would’ve lost by a point had they not missed with the last kick of the game.”
And Pugh wants to carry the feel good factor from a successful campaign into next season in Three West Central A.
He said: “I’d like to be in the top four next year with the aim of being there or thereabouts at the end of the season.
“We’ve regrouped other the past season or so and we’ve got a good core group of youngsters so potentially we’ve got a good chance again.
“The club is doing very well on and off the field at the moment and long may it continue.”
