The Scarlets stormed the division, winning 19 and losing only once in 20 matches, racking up 96 league points in total, running in 172 tries and scoring 1,059 points – bettered only by Denbigh across the entire WRU National Leagues.
The side also reeled off 17 league wins on the bounce from the end of September to finish 17 points ahead of nearest challengers Milford Haven.
In addition Pembroke also reached the final of both the WRU National Bowl and the Pembrokeshire Cup.
“It’s been brilliant; we think it’s our best season ever,” said proud vice chairman John Richards.
As for the standout league match, Richards picked out their 22-18 home win over Haverfordwest back on November 4. “That was the turning point of the season,” he said.
“We were behind by three points with about two minutes to go and all of us on the touchline were shouting ‘kick the penalty.’
“But we went to the touchline which from there resulted in a scrum five to us and from that the captain [Scott Powell] had enough strength and courage to call the move which we scored a try off. The guys’ confidence grew from that.”
Richards reserved special praise for skipper Powell for the way he led the team both on and off the field, while also gave a mention to top try scorer Sam Smith, back-rower Rhodri Walters and wing Elliott Evans for their outstanding contributions.
