The Division 3A East table-toppers maintained their unbeaten record this season as they put their visitors to the sword with an avalanche of tries. It was a similar story at Llandrindod Wells, where Fairwater triumphed 84-10, while Cardiff Met 2nd XV beat Hirwaun 76-0 and RTB Ebbw Vale beat Crumlin 75-22.
Other high scorers were Haverfordwest, who beat Pantyffynnon 69-5 at home, and Llanhilleth, who ran out 64-12 winners at home against West Mon. Tredegar Ironsides enjoyed a 65-10 victory at Abersychan.
Penarth’s dominant pack steered them into a 26-3 interval lead in their home tie against Llantwit Major, but they were forced to hang on in the end as their visitors came thundering back into the game. Llantwit plundered five second half tries from Dan Farrell (2), Laurence Howley (2) and Huw Williams.
Howley ended with 19 points as he added three conversions and a penalty, while Ryan Evans kicked a conversion. It took them to the brink of victory, but the home side just did enough to hang on to notch their first win of the season, 38-36.
Rhodri Jenkins was the toast of Aberaeron as he kicked all his side’s points in a narrow 21-17 home win over Milford Haven.
The game between Cardiff Saracens and Risca 2nd XV was abandoned after 41 minutes due to an injury, with the home side leading 19-0 at the time.
