Cymoedd booked their ticket to sixth successive final with a 47-5 win over Pembrokeshire College at Neyland on Monday, while Sir Gar ensured they will join them with a 31-0 win over Gwent College at Sardis Road.
Euros Evans’ Sir Gar side have now been involved in every final since the tournament began in the 2010/11 season and will be looking to wrestle back the title from Cymoedd, who beat them 29-10 last season. They also beat them 17-14 when they met at Sardis Road on 27 November.
Sir Gar’s triumph over Gwent College was their final fixture and took them two points clear of Cymoedd at the top of the table with 53 points. Cymoedd were due to complete their matches with a game against Gower College at Loughor this week, but that game has had to be postponed because the home side can’t raise a team.
Even so, third placed Ysgol Glantaf, who meet Pembrokeshire College at Cardiff Met in their last outing, can’t catch them. Nor can Cardiff & Vale College, who are currently in fourth place ahead of their final fixture against Neath Port Talbot College at the Arms Park.
Despite picking up a bonus point win against last season’s semi-finalists, Sir Gar were made to battle long and hard before finally wearing down Gwent College. It was inspirational skipper Sam Williams who once again led the way with the only try of the first half and he then crashed over for a second 15 minutes into the second half.

Tight head prop Sean James was next over the Gwent line as he was driven over from close range and then came a wonder score from out of the blue. It covered the complete length of the field and was the final straw for the visitors.

Sir Gar won a line-out on their own five metre line, but the delivery off the top went over the head of the scrum half. As the ball bounced in their in-goal area, centre Bradley Roderick gathered and somehow found a corridor up the left touchline to escape from the danger area.
An inside pass found hooker Rhodri King in support and then a second inside pass on the Gwent 10 metre line allowed wing Harrison Button to put his foot on the gas and score a try out of nowhere.

All that was left was for replacement Joe Scott to complete the scoring with a truck and trailer try from a line-out. Now all eyes will be fixed on the final showdown on 8 January with Cymoedd
