Having beaten former champions CR Cymry Caerdydd 19-14 last weekend the unbeaten west Wales side were drawn to face the Division 3 East A title challengers at a neutral venue on 30 March with a first trip to the Welsh capital the major goal for both clubs.
“It would be historic for a small village club like Nantgaredig to get to the final. We’ve already created history by getting to this stage and everybody will really need to up their game now to make it to the final because that is the golden carrot – to get to the stadium,” said Nant forwards coach Derek Thomas
“We didn’t mind who we played really, we’re all just looking forward to it now and building. The whole squad now is itching to play, it’s giving us selection headaches.
“It was a great battle against CR Cymry Caerdydd, a typical cup game. We haven’t seen such a crowd in Nantgaredig before.
“They were parking up through the village and, fair play to Clwb Rygbi, they brought about three buses as well. It was absolutely rammed down there and the atmosphere was fantastic for both teams.
“There were in excess of 500 people there in the end and the game was on a knife edge, it could have gone either way. For a small, village club and grassroots rugby, it was a great occasion and we had a great night in the club after.”
The other semi-final will see Bridgend Sports meet Oakdale. The Sports Club beat Pontyclun 35-13 to reach the final four, while Oakdale, top of Division 3 East A, won 15-3 at home against Aberaeron.
