The Ravens are one point clear of safety and face Carmarthen Quins side at the Brewery Field on Friday night.
Silva insists it is paramount for both the town and the Ospreys region that Bridgend retains top-flight rugby and doesn’t drop into the Championship.
“I would say staying up is certainly more than in our hands,” he said.
“We just need to start closing out those tighter games. We’ve lost our last two games against top sides by less than a score so it’s coming down to fine lines.
“I can’t put into words how important it is that Bridgend stay in the Premiership. I live in Bridgend and I speak to people all the time whether it be in town, to local businesses, or when I’m getting my hair cut.
“Everybody I speak to is adamant the town must maintain a Premiership outfit. We get decent crowds with people bringing their children to watch.
“There is so much history and tradition attached to this club with so many great players having come through Bridgend. It’s also important for the Ospreys to have as many teams from the region in the Premiership as possible because it is such an important development tool for players.”
Despite being positive about his side’s chances of survival, Silva is wary of a Carmarthen side who are 10th in the table. He said: “Carmarthen are one of the toughest sides we’ve played this season. They’re a powerful, strong running team.
“Defensively we’re going to have to be spot on while we will have to be the same at the set-piece as well. As we’re finding in these games at the moment, we’re having to work really hard just to stay within a score.
“This is a massive game for us especially because the sides around us are playing each other. We need to win just to stay in touch with them.
“It’s not about winning to elevate ourselves up the table it’s literally about winning just to stay in the fight come the end of the season.”
Elsewhere, Bedwas host Llanelli in another crucial relegation battle while Bargoed face RGC1404. Second-place Cardiff will be looking to keep the pressure on Premiership leaders Merthyr as they face Aberavon. Cross Keys host third place Pontypridd while Euros Evans’ Llandovery welcome Swansea to Church Bank. Merthyr host Ebbw Vale while Newport face lowly Neath.
