The WRU has launched an eight-week skills and conditioning programme for secondary school aged girls at four top class venues around Wales this autumn.

Registration is open now for all year 7 to year 13 aged girls of all abilities including newcomers to the game.

The first programme to kick off will be at Llandarcy Academy of Sport next Monday evening 30 September where the weekly programme will be run by Wales Sevens internationals Stef Andrews and Kayleigh Powell and former Wales captain and RGC academy skills coach Rachel Taylor will deliver the Parc Eirias centre which will be held on Thursday evenings from October 3. Sessions at Parc y Scarlets will run on Sunday afternoons from Sunday 6 October and sessions at USW Sports Park, Trefforest will be held on Friday evenings starting on October 11.

The WRU skill development centres will meet demand from girls for additional rugby opportunities and provide weekly sessions to upskill girls’ core skills, technique and fitness.

WRU General Manager, Women and Girls, Charlotte Wathan said, “Demand from girls to play rugby is very much on the up and the development centres will provide a new opportunity for girls wherever they live in Wales to get involved with the game or improve as players, whether or not they are already enjoying different formats of rugby within school, club or Female Hub environments.”
