Pontypool made it two bonus point wins out of two in the Specsavers National Championship as they ran out 38-15 victors over newly promoted Ystalyfera at the Ynysydarren Ground.

Lewis Ball, Adam Stratton, Pat Lewis and two penalty tries were on the scoresheet for champions Pooler with Kieran Meek adding the rest from the tee. Josh Jarrett and Luc Caines went over in reply for the Fera, both converted by player coach Gareth James.

Bedwas, who are bidding to return to the Premiership at the first time of asking, also maintained their winning start with a narrow 15-20 victory at National Cup giantkillers Beddau. Owen Jones and Dale Rogers crossed for the Wass, both converted by Dion McIntosh who also booted two penalties.

Cameron Ellis and Callum Wheeler were the scorers for Beddau – who last weekend stunned Premiership side Bridgend in the cup. Hywel Chatham kicked two penalties. There are also three other sides with two wins from two so far.

Neath beat last season’s runners-up Ystrad Rhondda 29-19 at the Gnoll. David Griggs was at the double with Luke Griffiths and Jon Hill also dotting down. Griffiths and Jordan Rees shared kicking duties.

Jared Llewellyn scored twice for the visitors with Ryan Howells their other scorer. Rhys Truelove kicked two conversions. Narberth ran out 34-12 home victors over Trebanos thanks to Lewis Gibby, Nick Gale, Dafydd Pritchard, Tom Powell and a penalty try. Gale also kicked seven points.

Keiron Weightman and Ewan Gully were the Trebanos scorers with Tom Dew kicking a conversion. Will Adams-Jones collected a brace for Glamorgan Wanderers as they beat Tata Steel 27-24 at the Memorial Ground.

Ryan Matthew and Phil Pariyo also scored with Paul Short booting the rest. The big winners of the day were Bargoed who crushed Maesteg Quins 53-0.

Darren Humphries helped himself to a hat-trick while Josh Prosser, Jack Bunyan, Rhys Humphries, Stefan Thomas and Ronny Kynes also had their scoring boots on. Steffan Jones kicked 11 points while Prosser added one conversion.

Elsewhere there was a thumping 50-28 win for Cardiff Met over Cross Keys in their own backyard.
