In Division 1 East, two more teams who dropped down from the second tier last season clashed at the Welfare Ground, with Newbridge getting the better of Bedlinog by 22-17. Jimmy Gahan, Dan Davies and a penalty try, along with a conversion and penalty from Eamonn Rees, accounted for the home side’s points as they also made it four from four.
Sam Farrar-Evans and Dylan Williams replied for the Foxes with both also adding a conversion. Liam Jones kicked a penalty as they went down to their second defeat in three league outings.
Newbridge are now two points behind reigning champions Brecon, who continued a so far faultless defence of their crown with a 24-17 win at Nelson. The top two are due to clash at the Welfare Ground on 9 November.
Scott Gibson, Dafydd Edwards and Ioan Edwards all got themselves on the scoresheet, with all three tries converted by Dean Gunter who also kicked a penalty. In Division 1 West, Felinfoel are gunning for a third straight title and they maintained their excellent start under new head coach Sam Kiley by seeing off Gowerton 23-0. Jordan Dunne was at the double with the rest of the points coming from the boot of Aled Roberts.
In Division West Central, Bonymaen also made it four wins from as many games as they got the better of Tondu 19-0 at Parc Mawr. Sam Jones scored the only try of the match while he also converted and kicked a penalty to add to three penalties from Lawrence Thomas.
The Division North champions, Llandudno, put 60 points on Llangefni without reply and are also four from four.
