Tries from Bleddyn Thomas, Dyfrig Dafis and Owain Wozencraft along with seven points from the boot of Rhodri Thomas was enough to get Justin Lloyd’s side over the line.

Aberaeron’s free-flowing style of rugby was no match for their visitors with the try of the game coming from inside centre Dafis who linked well with Tudur Jenkins before hitting a perfect angle to touch down.

Wozencraft’s try saw the Aberaeron pack drive him over from the five-metre line.

Penygraig edged out their visitors Llanybydder 24-20 in what was a hugely entertaining clash with a brace of tries from Corey Commer and a late score from Sam Berbillion.

Commer showed terrific pace on both occasions to skin his opposite number for both of his tries.

Canton ran out 38-15 winners at Rhymney as Ryan Rees, Josh Rivers, Luke Radford, Robbie McDermott, Haydn Mailako and Matt Stanston touched down for tries.

Connor Condon claimed the only try in a hard-fought affair which saw Aberavon Green Stars edge out Tylorstown 11-5 at home.

Condon powered his way over from short range after a period of sustained pressure with Courtney Davies contributing six points from the kicking tee. Adam Phillips scored a late consolation try for Tylorstown, but it was a case of too little, too late for the visitors.

Garry Rogers clinched an 8-3 win for Abertysswg with a late try in what was a dour yet full-blooded affair at Abercarn. Elsewhere, Fairwater won another tight affair 13-3 over Bryncethin to squeeze into the last eight of the Bowl with their forward dominance ultimately the difference between both sides.

In the Specsavers National Shield, Cardiff Saracens maintained their unbeaten run in league and cup this season as they won 10-7 at Penybanc to go through to the third round.

Already 12 points clear at the top of Division 3 East Central C, the Saracens have now won nine league games and two cup ties. Adam Jones struck with a first-half try which was converted by Adam Worthington before Penybanc levelled things yup after the break.

Worthington then kicked a penalty to win the game and take his club one step closer to a dream trip to Principality Stadium.

With Holyhead beating Llanrumney 45-5, the Saracens are the only Cardiff-based team left in the competition.

Pontardawe also made the long trip north and were more successful as they beat Denbigh 2nd XV 35-7 to reach the last eight.

Hollybush overcame Ogmore Vale 31-10 and South Gower also made it through to the quarter-finals thanks to a 26-8 home win over Crumlin.
