It’s as you were at the top of the Specsavers National Championship after the top three all bagged bonus-point wins.
Three-time defending champions Pontypool remain eight points clear after they triumphed 24-0 at in-form Glamorgan Wanderers to make it a perfect 10.
It was not vintage by any stretch but, in the end, it was job done for Pooler with Ieuan Jones crashing over twice in addition to tries from Michael Herbert and Darren Hughes for Leighton Jones’ men.
Clayton Gullis added two conversions.
However nearest challengers Bargoed, who do have a game in hand on Pooler, themselves made it eight straight bonus-point wins as they crushed bottom side Ystrad Rhondda 62-0.
Steff Jones – who also booted seven conversions and a penalty – and Josh Prosser both bagged braces with Adam Powell, Rhys Humphries, Darren Humphries, Duane Dyer and Kieron Brown also dotting down.
Bargoed have won eight and drawn one from nine and it sets things up nicely for their trip to Pontypool Park next Saturday.
Meanwhile fellow challengers Bedwas secured an eighth win from eight, coming away from Maesteg Quins with the spoils following a 29-0 success.
Mike Dacey scored in both halves for Bedwas with Owen Jones and Matthew Bovington also going over. Dion McIntosh kicked three conversions and a penalty.
Beddau pulled off a stirring comeback from 22-0 down to run out eventual 41-22 home victors over Narberth.
After the Otters’ fast start, Rhys Owens and Callum Wheeler hit back with first-half tries. Hywel Chatham converted the second of those efforts and also kicked a penalty to reduce the arrears to seven points at the break.
Three more tries from Wheeler in the second half then turned the game on its head with Lewis Egal also getting in on the act. Chatham converted three of the four.
Elsewhere, tries from Gwion Jones, Corey Nicholls, Wes Cunliffe and Adam Tetley set Cross Keys on their way to a 29-15 win over Trebanos.
There was also a conversion and a penalty for Kieran Hill and two conversions for Loui O’Brien.
Cardiff Met won 45-10 at Tata Steel while Luke Griffiths scored all of Neath’s points, including two tries, in a 15-9 win at Ystalyfera.
