Joining him in the Sardis Road ‘boot room’ will be forwards coach Lee Davies, backs coach Paul Matthews, conditioning coach Nathan Evans and performance analyst Dean Parsons. Dan Godfrey is also continuing as team manager.
Burnell’s role will include mentoring the club’s senior squad as well as liaising with the Youth, Mini and Junior sections. He is also involved with the Valleys Initiative and Pontypridd Schools.
“These are uncertain times for everyone but the one constant is that we have a fully committed coaching team in place at Pontypridd,” said Burnell.
“All involved are ready and willing to go over and above what is required of them. We want to ensure the club’s sustainability by producing young talent that we can call our own.
“We all contribute to player development within a structured pathway that involves the club’s Junior and Youth sections, Pontypridd Schools, Coleg y Cymoedd, University of South Wales and the Valleys Initiative. We also work closely with the Cardiff Blues age grade and academy squads.”
