The valleys side have already qualified for the play-offs and will take plenty of confidence and momentum into the next round. They scored five tries in total with club captain Nathan Hughes scoring a brace, while Cole Morgan, Ethan Fackrell, and Jason Waters also touched down.
Powerful second-row Hughes was outstanding with his two tries coming off the back of a well-worked driving lineout, while openside flanker Fackrell’s try was superb as he finished off a tremendous move which included backs and forwards.
Trebanos secured the Swansea Valley bragging rights with a convincing 23-12 away win over Ystalyfera. The visitors scored one try with Rhys Thomas powering over from short range, while Tom Dew kicked six penalties.
Maesteg Harlequins will also take a lot of momentum into the play-offs as they scored five tries in a 33-14 win over Tata Steel. Jay Ronan crossed twice, with Aled Evans, Andrew Healey, and Jakob Evans also claiming tries. Tadgh McGuckin contributed eight points from the kicking tee for Quins.
The try of the game was scored by Evans who chipped over the top of the Tata Steel defence before regathering and running in unopposed from 30 metres out. No 8 Healey was excellent throughout with his ball carrying putting Maesteg on the front foot, and he showed his power to barge through four defenders for his try.
Scrum-half Evans was also impressive with his sniping from the base of the ruck claiming resulting in a try. Elsewhere in the Championship Cup Cross Keys edged out Bedwas 21-17 in what was a tense affair.
Chris Johnsey, and Curtis Povey (twice) scored tries for Morgan Stoddard’s side, with Adam Tetley kicking six tries. Povey showed his power to barge over from short range on two separate occasions, while Johnsey showed some tremendous pace for his try.
Cross Keys finished bottom of group one, with Bargoed walking into the play-offs having finished top by 10 points. Former Wales wing Stoddard has used the Championship Cup to test the depth of his squad and will be expecting more consistent performances when their league campaign begins.
Glamorgan Wanderers ended their Championship Cup campaign on a high with a comfortable 29-17 home win over Beddau. Martyn Fowler will have been happy with the way his side finished, but will be made to rue a couple of disappointing results earlier on in the season which ultimately cost them a place in the play-offs.
