Ebbw Vale have been the form side in the Premiership Cup to date with a stunning away win at Merthyr and a solid home victory over Pontypridd elevating the Steelmen to the top of the eastern conference.
Cup favourites Cardiff suffered a rare defeat last Friday night at the hands of Newport, but Woods expects them to be a lot better at Ebbw Vale.
“We are super excited about this game,” said Woods.
“It’s difficult to prepare for Cardiff because they are such a strong side. Their squad is pretty impressive.
“I watched their game against Newport and I thought Newport did really well to disrupt them.
“We won’t lie down that’s for sure. We got a real monkey off our back when we beat Merthyr.
“In all my years of experience it’s harder to back it up so it was great to beat Pontypridd as well. I’m really pleased for the guys.
“This is such a tough competition so we’ve just got to take every win we can as a positive. It’s about backing it up every week.”
In another huge clash Pontypridd welcome arch-rivals Merthyr to Sardis Road.
Historically both sides have been among the strongest on the semi-professional scene but have endured indifferent starts to the season.
Elsewhere, on Saturday Newport will be hoping to build on their impressive win over Cardiff as they travel to north Wales for a tricky fixture against RGC 1404.
The north Walians, now being coached by former Harlequins and Wales prop Ceri Jones, will be desperate to claim their first win of the season having gone down at Cardiff and Merthyr.
In the western conference, top of the table Aberavon will be hoping to maintain their unbeaten run but face a difficult away fixture at Bridgend.
“It’s just nice to see the boys playing with a smile on their faces again because like everyone else we went a long time without playing any rugby,” said Aberavon second row Sam Williams.
After beating arch-rivals Carmarthen Quins last weekend, Llandovery face another west Wales derby with Llanelli the visitors to Church Bank while Swansea go in search of their first point of the campaign as they take on Carmarthen Quins at St Helens.
Llandovery head coach Euros Evans said: “It’s always a difficult challenge against our regional rivals because all the players know each other so well.
“We’re really pleased with our start to the league and are looking forward to the game with Llanelli.”
In the WRU Championship Plate, Cross Keys host Bedwas, Cardiff Met travel to Tata Steel, and Trebanos face local rivals Ystalyfera for the third time this season.
