Aberavon wary of Llanelli threat

Jason Hyatt, Aberavon Head Coach

Aberavon head coach Jason Hyatt has told his players not to underestimate a dangerous Llanelli side at the Talbot Athletic Ground this afternoon.

Llanelli have struggled this season but are boosted by the return of Scarlets centre Corey Baldwin who has missed most of the season with a broken foot.  “The pack have been phenomenal all season,” said Hyatt.

“We showed tremendous character to beat Merthyr in the cup last weekend, and what was pleasing was the way we adapted our game when we couldn’t play an expansive brand of rugby. Our driving lineout has also been tremendous this season as has our scrum.

“It just goes to show the quality we’ve got at this club. Marc Breeze has done a fantastic job coaching the forwards.

“We want to win something this season, whether it’s the cup or the league. We’ve prepared exactly the same for this game against Llanelli as we would for a semi-final.

“Llanelli will pose a tough challenge for us, but we have prepared well for them.”  Cardiff will be hoping they can apply pressure at the top of the table as they travel to Bridgend.

Steve Law’s side have several regional players in their starting XV including Gwylim Bradley, Theo Cabango, Max Llewellyn, and Dan Fish. Carmarthen Quins have an opportunity to knock Newport off top spot, but they face a tricky trip to Ebbw Vale, while Merthyr host Euros Evans’ Llandovery. RGC will be strong favourites to beat Swansea in North Wales today.
