Current Premiership champions Llandaff North will kick-start their campaign with a trip to North Wales to face COBRA while Pontyclun Falcons also travel north to take on last season’s North Wales Cup champions, Caernarfon.

Elsewhere in the Premiership Deri host Nelson whilst last season’s Cup Final runners-up Bonymaen have a bye in the first round before taking on Caernarfon at Parc Mawr in round two.

WRU South Wales Plate winners Lampeter Ladies kick-start their campaign away to Gwernyfed in the Championship while Llantwit Fardre host Pencoed, Senghenydd take on Seven Sisters and Ynysddu face Whitland. Burry Port kick off their campaign in round two at home to Llantwit Fardre.

In the North Wales League Wrexham host Holyhead with Rhyl and District RFC travelling to Bro Gwernant. Elsewhere in the league, Shotton Steel welcome Llangefni.

For teams in the East Wales League, Clwb Rygbi Cymry Caerdydd kick off round one to Blackwood. Rhyl and District take on Cilfynydd whilst Old Penarthinas make the trip to Holyhead. Abergele face Taffs Well with Whithcurch kicking off in round two against Blaina.

In the West Wales League, Y Piod Pinc take on West Swansea Hawks in Tumble and Morriston welcome Pembroke to the home of the monkeys. Porthcawl make the trip down west to take on Haverfordwest whilst Cwmafan/Tondu receive a bye for round one.

WRU Community lead for Female Rugby, Joe Davies, said: “It’s so good to see the excitement building in the women’s game across Wales ahead of the return of the National Leagues this weekend

“The effort and commitment shown by players, coaches and volunteers of these teams throughout last season was second to none from round 1 right through to the finals days at the Principality Stadium and through to the Admiral league period.

“We’re all looking forward to seeing teams kick on from last season and seeing more players out there on the field enjoying the game here in Wales.”

WRU Community Director Geraint John, added: “The women’s game is going from strength to strength in Wales and it’s great to see. With the women’s Rugby World Cup only a matter of weeks to go, I expect that to spark further interest in the women’s game.

“I’d like to thank all the players, coaches, support staff and volunteers supporting the game so strongly and passionately over the past three years during one of the most difficult periods in the 141-year history of the WRU.

“So many clubs played a part in helping others during the pandemic, proving once again that rugby clubs are the heart and soul of communities across the length and breadth of Wales.

“It has been quite some achievement to be returning to a full-blown season, the first since 2018-19. The 2022-23 campaign will once again test the resolve and playing pool at each club given the number of matches compared to last season will double.

“I can’t wait to see how the club season in the women’s game pans out and I’m personally looking forward to going to a game myself tomorrow to see the season get underway.

“Further down the season, the players will have one eye on the Road to Principality as well after the girls and women’s teams proved a huge success in this year’s festival of rugby.

“Pob lwc to all the teams this season.”
