Keys led 10-5 at half time, before the game exploded into life after the break with six more tries flowing in an entertaining game. When the students led 26-13 with 15 minutes to go it looked as though they might escape with the win.

But Keys eventually emerged victorious thanks to their five tries, two from replacement Connah Vaughan. Adam Tetley also kicked seven points, including a touchline conversion, to complete the comeback.

Pontypool saw off a spirited comeback from Narberth to join Keys in the next round as they continued their invincible unbeaten start to the season. Pooler dominated the first half, racing to a 38-3 lead at half.

A clever lineout routine saw hooker Sam Scarfe open the scoring before centre Pat Lewis finished off a devastating counter-attack. Nick Gale hit back with a penalty for the hosts but Scarfe again, Geraint Walsh, Dan Babos and Joel Mahoney earned the visitors a 35 point interval lead.

The visitors ended up with seven tries, five of which Matthew Jarvis converted, to win 45-24. The Otters scored three tries via Josh Davies, Josh Hamer and George McDonald.

Beddau went to Ystalyfera and won 37-0.  Adam Ashford, Jack Williams and Ewan Roberts all crossed for tries for the visitor and there was also a penalty try, while Callum Wheeler kicked 15 points.

Ystalyfera went into the game confident off the back of two wins in five games, but fell wanting, as Beddau dominated from the off.

Trebanos got their first win of the season, winning 14-0 against Glamorgan Wanderers. The Swansea Valley’s club sit bottom of the Championship, but a change of competition helped them seal an excellent victory at the Memorial Ground in Ely.

Bargoed eased past Tata Steel in convincing fashion, as they came out 68-0 winners in front of their home support as they continued their excellent form. The Bulls are now unbeaten in five games, and looked in fine fettle as they dominated Tata throughout.

Bedwas also clinched a 25-15 victory against Maesteg Quins in a hotly contested game. It was Bedwas’ third straight win as they look to push on in both the league and cup competitions.
