Marksman Lloyd closes in on century target

Indigo Prem

Ethan Fackrell, Lewis Young, Dewi Cross and Evan Lloyd figure in this week's rankings

Ebbw Vale marksman Evan Lloyd looks the odds on favourite to become the first player to reach a century of points in this season’s Indigo Premiership.

Lloyd is just 16 points shy of the milestone and with his next game against struggling Carmarthen Quins, the young fly half will fancy his chances of edging ever nearer the 100-mark.

Three other players – Pontypridd’s Joseph Scrivens (69 points), RGC’s Dion Jones (60) and Llandovery’s Jack Maynard (55) have burst through the half century mark of points, while Newport fly half Will Reed is only two points shy of the target.

Dewi Cross’s hat-trick against Llanelli has seen the Cardiff winger leap frog Aberavon’s Joe Gage as the leading try scorer in the league. Cross has dotted down for eight tries and is two ahead of Gage and his Wizards teammate Ashton Evans. Llandovery’s Aaron Warren and Llanelli’s Jac Davies have five tries to be within touching distance of Cross.

Elsewhere, Llandovery scrum half Lee Rees has made more passes (455) than any other player this season and managed seven off-loads for a 94% accuracy rating. Swansea’s Harvey Nash actually has a better accuracy percentage (95%) but he has made significantly fewer passes than Rees.

Cardiff’s Mogan Allen continues to get through a bucketload of work for the Blue & Blacks. He has been the go to man for Steve Law over the past couple of seasons whenever Cardiff need go forward. He has made 79 carries this season, four more than nearest challenger, Ashton Evans (Aberavon).

On the attacking front, Aberavon’s Steff Andrews has made the most line-breaks this season with five, but he has a posse of players right behind him including Aaron Warren (Llandovery), Nikola Matawalu (Pontypridd), Rhodri Cole (Aberavon) and Gareth Rees (Bridgend).
