The Welsh All Blacks started well with a dominant try finished off by centre Jon Bayliss to which Steff Williams added the extras. Alex Webber’s try for the home side, converted by Jacob Symes, levelled things up.
Williams edged Neath ahead with a penalty before Ystrad notched a second try through full back Josh Williams that put them in front. It took two tries from hooker Sion Crocker to put the visitors back in command at 22-12 at the break.
Back came Ystrad with a third try to cut the gap to three points before Dai Griggs powered over for Neath’s bonus-point try which Willimas improved. Syms kicked a penalty to end the scoring and earn a well-deserved losing bonus-point for battling Ystrad, who are now in sixth place in the table.
It was a tight affair at the Lloyd Lewis Ground where Narberth led Cross Keys 30-27 until Tom Davies grabbed not only the winning try in the left corner for the visitors, but also earned them a bonus-point.
Gwion Jones, Morgan Johns and Corey Nicholls score the other tries for Keys, who also had 12 points from the boot of Adam Tetley. Having led 17-15 at the break, Keys found themselves trailing 27-20 when the Otters ran in their fourth, and bonus-point, try.
Cardiff Met defeated Maesteg Quins 20-17 in a terrific display at Cyncoed, to leapfrog the visitors in the league. The hosts wrestled control of the game, with tries from Alfie Price and Nathan Williams.
Jack Goodridge and former Bridgend Ravens fly half Owen Howe kept Maesteg in the game, but it was the Archers’ American winger Porter Goodrum who’s eight-point haul sealed the game for the home side, when his touchline penalty attempt sailed through the uprights.
Pontypool got off to the perfect start, Geraint Walsh made an excellent break before offloading to Euan Rosser, who bagged his first try for the club. Bedwas replied through the boot of Lloyd Wilkins, before in form Joel Mahoney grabbed a try for the visitors.
Hamish Anderson was able to collect a lofted pass on the right wing to score for the hosts. But this was a wakeup call for Pooler who responded with two scintillating tries from Matthew Powell and Garin Price, who added the try bonus point before half time.
Having waited to open his account for Pontypool, Rosser soon added his second and third tries of the afternoon, after the break. Bedwas fought hard to get back into the game, but Pooler’s game management was too good for the hosts.
Scott Matthews capped his 50th appearance with a try at the death to secure a dominant 47-10 victory. Pooler are now unbeaten in their eight games and sit two points behind Neath with a game in hand.
Elsewhere, Glamorgan Wanderers picked up a 59-3 win over struggling Tata Steel, to move up to ninth in the table. The home side scored nine tries with Tries: Cameron Gibbon and Morgan Williams each scoring twice.
The other tries came from Tommy Walsh, Gareth Reid, Tommy Taylor, Joe Page and Alfie Llewellyn. Paul Short knocked over seven conversions.
Beddau came out on top in their home clash with Ystalyfera, winning 20-14. The game between Bargoed and Trebanos was postponed.
