The capital city side travel to face a Wizards outfit on their home patch with both sides looking to return to winning ways after defeats in the Premiership Cup last weekend.

League leaders Cardiff are the only unbeaten side in the league and face Aberavon, who are in third, in a mouthwatering top of the table clash which will be shown live on S4C Clic.

Law’s Cardiff side suffered their first defeat of the season with a 19-16 defeat to Llandovery in the Cup but still qualified for the semi-finals, while Aberavon were knocked out after losing to Pontypridd.

Aberavon find themselves on a four-match losing streak, in all competitions, and will be looking to rediscover their own winning habit after starting this season so well.

“Aberavon are a big physical side and they are set-piece orientated so we know what’s coming and we have to deal with it,” said Law.

“We have to restrict them in that area, not concede penalties and not surrender field position because we know how good they want to play and how good they are in that area. We need a reaction after the last defeat and we will find out a lot about ourselves against Aberavon after what happened against Llandovery.

“We have to manage different surfaces and styles of play. We need a reaction from the players individually and collectively after our first defeat of the season. We know we have the ability and we have to go again and learn from what we experienced against Llandovery.

“Rugby is about winning and we know Aberavon will be fired up and we need a reaction after our first loss of the season.”

Cardiff are league leaders in the Indio Premiership, having enjoyed a perfect start to the league campaign with a played eight and won eight record in Welsh rugby’s semi-pro tier.

Aberavon have won six of their nine league games so far this season and will be looking to get a league campaign, which has stuttered in recent weeks, back on track. Law is expecting a full-blooded encounter between two of the dominant sides in the competition and is under no illusions of the challenge facing his Cardiff side on the road.

“It’s a learning curve for our squad, we have a lot of talented players but without a lot of experience and this will be a test for us,” said Law.

“Our discipline is killing is and we have the highest penalty count in the league and it’s really hurting us, especially backfoot penalties, and we need to address that and get our mindset right around that, in particular.

“This is an opportunity to put things right and it’s a big test and game for us.”
