As expected, Ebbw Vale fly half Evan Lloyd became the first player to reach triple figures in the Indigo Premiership when a conversion and penalty against Newport saw him guide the Steelmen to a 22-18 victory in the last round of fixtures in 2022.
Morgan Allen has been a standout figure for Cardiff in recent years and he continues to shine for Steve Law’s capital club.
Going into the new year, he had made 106 carries for the Blue & Blacks. There is clear daylight between him and his nearest challengers with Aberavon duo Andrew Waite (89) and Ashton Evans (88) with some work to do to close the gap.
Carmarthen Quins have been finding the going tough this season, but without Thomas Curry in their side they would be deeper in the mire. He has made 111 tackles so far this campaign and has proven a staunch defender for the Quins.
Pontypridd’s Kristian Parker and RGC’s Ethan Fackrell are next in line with 96 apiece so they no doubt will be chasing the century mark themselves the first time they step out this year.
Cardiff’s Dewi Cross has now put clear daylight between himself and the rest on the try scoring charts. The Cardiff winger entered 2023 with 13 tries next to his name. Ebbw Vale’s Morgan Richards has quietly moved into second place with seven, one ahead of the chasing pack of Joe Gage (Aberavon), Aaron Warren (Llandovery) and Newport’s Oli Andrew.
Cross is having a fine season with Cardiff – he also leads the Line-breaks section, having cut through on nine occasions this season. His midfield partner Joe Goodchild along with Pontyrpridd winger Nikola Matawalu and Ebbw Vale winger Carridk McDonough are next in line with six apiece.
