A hat-trick of tries from Quins scrum half Seren Lockwood, helped see off a defiant north Wales outfit, who also had their own hat-trick hero in full back Saran Jones. Her final try was the pick of the day as she broke from her own goalline to race the length of the pitch to score a try even north Wales-bred George North would have relished.

Saran Jones completes her hat-trick

The Quins made a quick start to the game and in the eighth minute Lockwood scored her first try of the game. After receiving the ball from the scrum, she took it past two GMH defenders to finish at the posts.

Her half-back partner Brooke Bevan added the extras, and the Quins had their tails up. GMH responded just minutes later when fullback Jones, after receiving the ball just over the halfway line, stepped past two players before gliding to the line to claim a brilliant individual try.

Back came the Quins with a corner try from centre Eden Skuse, but once again the north Walians hit back immediately. This time it was lock Lowri Jarman who powered past two players to score.

It was a ding-dong battle up to that point, although seized the initiative on before the break to bag two more tries from Sophie Southgate and No 8 Chloe Roblin to go into the interval 14 points up.

Quins started the second half as they had finished the first with the powerful running of Roblin and sme great handling from Olivia Kearle, putting in Lockwood for her second try of the game.

Defiant as ever GMH hit back through full back Jones once again. Picking up from a ruck just outside the 22, she used her pace to beat the oncoming Quins defenders to score a try at the posts that she also converted.

Seren Lockwood on her way to the try line

Lockwood once again burst through the GMH defence before she was stopped in her tracks by a great tackle from Lliwen Davies. There was no stopping Quins replacement Grace Sexton moments later when she picked up from the subsequent ruck to score at the corner flag.

Crystal James then got in on the action as the score grew in Quins favour. Lockwood then completed her hat-trick, but GMH after intercepting a loose pass just before the halfway line and out pacing the chasing defenders to finish off a wonderful hat trick in real style.

But GMH refused to go quietly or without a fight. Lliwen Davies gathered ball on the wing and raced to score at the posts before that Saran Jones special rounded things off in a positive fashion for the Bala team.
