Matthew Jarvis was once again Pooler's matchwinner

When you add in four games in the WRU Championship Cup it means Scott Matthews ‘Invincibles’ have gone 30 games without defeat and have scooped both the league and cup on their way to a place in the Indigo Premiership next season.

“The rugby has finally stopped and it is probably time for everything to sink in and for the boys and the coaches to really enjoy the achievements we have managed this year and records we have broken,” said Pooler’s director of rugby Leighton Jones.

“With the season running on as long as it has we’ve got a few off-field things we have to tie up, so we haven’t fully switched off. It was great the boys capped off the season with a good win.

“The management group will get to have a week or two off and then we are back into it. With the turnaround we have got we’re not going to have a massive down time.”

It was inspirational skipper Matthews who started the latest try-fest as he crossed for the opening try after a mere two minutes. He got the second to regain the lead after Ystalyfera grabbed a Jason Congreve try that Lee Evans improved and by half-time it was 50-7.

The other first half tries came from Matthew Jarvis, Ieuan Jones, Dareen Hughes, Duan Thomas, Pat Lewis and Dai Jones and Jarvis ended the half with five conversions.

Jarvis hoisted his match tally to 23 points with four more conversions as Pooler ran in five more tries to take their points tally for the season to 119.

Second placed Neath, who earlier in the week had guaranteed joined Pooler in the Premiership next season with a 45-12 triumph at Cross Keys, still have a game to play against Ystrad Rhondda to complete their campaign, but did just enough to win 26-0 at Beddau.

A tight first half contest saw Josh Clark score the only try for the visitors, with Lewis Evans’ conversion making it 7-0 at the break. Skipper Ryan Evans, Evan Kneath and former Wales wing Aled Brew added second half tries and Evans kicked two more conversions.

Narberth scored a magnificent seven tries in their 46-28 home win over Trebanos to finish fifth overall. Wings Josh Evans and Josh Davies scored two each and Lewis Gibby, Ilan Phillips and skipper Tom Powell grabbing the others.

Fraser Jones kicked 11 points for the Otters. To their credit, Trebanos returned home with a try bonus for scoring four converted tries.

Bedwas ended on a high with a nine try, 51-0 home victory over Tata Steel. Hooker Evan Wood helped himself to a hat-trick and two from Aaron Billingham.
