The Cardiff club have been inactive since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in early 2020.
But now they are looking to start afresh. They have some 25 players on board and have already held their first training get-together.
The challenge now is to find somewhere to play matches, with their hope being they can secure a spot on the University playing fields in Llanrumney.
Committee chairman Royston Smith said: “When Covid came about, the season was put on hold, with the lockdown in place, and all sport stopped.
“We never then got back off the ground once Covid had passed.
“We now find ourselves in a position where we want to relaunch the team, but there are obviously barriers in the way.
“We have willing players, we have a committee to move ourselves forward and we have been promised a spot in the Cardiff District league.
“We are aiming to do a season there and then hopefully rejoin the WRU league pyramid the year after.
“We have seasoned players who are really passionate about the club, along with new players, so we definitely have the opportunity to take things forward.
“We are going to use the Llanrumney Legion as a social base, so that is sorted but the dilemma we have now is the fact that we don’t have a pitch.
“Traditionally, we played on the pitch outside Llanrumney Hall and there was a set of changing rooms and showers at the back of the hall.
“But during the Covid period, those facilities were discontinued and dismantled.
As a result, the club are now eyeing another option.
“There are two grass community pitches allocated in the University playing fields space,” said Smith.
“Our hope is to make use of one of those. Cardiff University and Cardiff House of Sport are ready for us to go ahead, as we understand it, but we are just waiting for approval from Cardiff County Council.
“Fingers crossed that will be sorted soon and we can get back up and running for next season.”
