The Archers shot down Swansea University last week with a virtuoso second half performance saw them turn a 5-3 interval deficit into a 34-12, bonus-point win with four tries.
Cardiff University, meanwhile, beat Leeds Beckett 22-19 at home to kick-off their campaign with a fine win. They ended last season as the highest ranked of the three Welsh universities for the first time.
They reached the semi-finals before losing to Exeter University. They beat Cardiff Met 27-24 on 5 October last year in the first of the two ‘Cardiff Clash’ fixtures at the Arms Park and will be hoping to do the same again.
Swansea University head to Hartpury hoping to make up for last week’s second half heartbreak at St Helen’s.
There will also be a first women’s BUCS clash between the two universities with that game kicking-off at 4.00pm. Cardiff Met beat Edinburgh 46-12 in their opening game last week.
