Unbeaten Llandovery College welcome the champions of the past two seasons, Cardiff & Vale College, while Ysgol Glantaf will host Coleg Sir Gar at the Arms Park (7.30pm kick-off) in the second semi-final. Llanovery are the only school side to have reached the final in the past.

Both home teams have already beaten their opponents in the regular league campaign and will go into the contests as slight favourites. But anything can happen in knock-out rugby.

“It’s six years since Sir Gar last won the title and it was at the Arms Park when Ryan Conbeer was our star player,” recalled Sir Gar’s long-standing director of rugby, Euros Evans.

“Our captain reminded me that we haven’t won the title since 2018. Some of our players were in the team that was beaten at the death in the final by CAVC at Parc Y Scarlets last season.

“Both Llandovery and Glantaf have been excellent this season and we know we have to b e very wary of the Glantaf back line. They can strike from anywhere and is as good as anything we’ve seen this season.

“But we’ve got a few key players back from injury to pep up our pack, Scarlets Academy lock Alex Ridgeway and back row man Osian Williams, so we are in good shape for what should be a great contest.”

It was 24-20 the last time the two teams met, while Llandovery managed to overcome CAVC 36-33 when they met in the Welsh capital on 8 November.

There will be just as much riding on the fixtures for the bottom four teams in Conference A, with relegation looming for one team. Fifth placed Whitchurch HS will be hoping their unbeaten home run this season can continue when they host Coleg Gwent, a side they beat 29-8 last month.

The other play-off game in the relegation zone sees Coleg Llandrillo welcome Coleg Y Cymoedd, who are the only team not to win a game to date this season. The North Walians pipped them 14-13 when they met in the regular season. The two winners will continue on Conference A next season, while the two losing sides will meet to decide who drops into Conference B next year.

In Conference B, unbeaten Gower College will have home advantage over newcomers Christ College, Brecon, in one of the promotion play-off semi-finals. Newport HS will welcome Ysgol Ystalyfera in the other fixture.

The play-offs for fifth place will see Bridgend College tackle Neath Port Talbot College and Ysgol Dyffryn Aman entertain Coleg Sir Benfro.
