Both of those came in Championship West where Brecon leapfrogged Narberth to go top of the table after leaving Dunvant with a 16-10 victory and four more points.
Hooker Aneurin James scored Brecon’s try in the first half, which was converted by outside half Dion McIntosh, who also kicked a penalty for a 10-5 lead at the turnaround.
He split the posts twice further after the re-start to secure the win, despite being outscored two tries to one with a second half score for Dunvant securing them a losing bonus point.
The win for Brecon maintains their 100 per cent winning start to the campaign and edges them a point ahead of Narberth, who have also won nine games out of nine.
For Dunvant, who are fifth, this makes it back-to-back defeats following their narrow 19-17 loss at Crymych the weekend before. It’s also a fourth defeat from their last five league matches and fifth in 10 matches played so far which has also yielded five wins.
Dunvant will now look to return to winning ways next Saturday at home against Ammanford – who themselves ran out 31-27 victors at Tata Steel in the only other Championship game played over the weekend.
The tries were shared among the back three with wingers Liam Smith and Elis Lewis running in two tries apiece and full-back Frazer Gregory also on the scoresheet.
Outside half Ryan Williams converted three of the five tries and it’s now three wins from four for Ammanford who, having started the season with five losses in six, are now up into mid table.
Dunvant won 21-18 at Ammanford when those two sides met in the reverse fixture on the opening day of the season. The four other scheduled fixtures in Championship West were all postponed, while all six in the East division went.
Ystrad Rhondda, who host bottom side Treorchy next, lead the way by five points from Bargoed, who have a game in hand. Next up for Bargoed is a trip to Rumney.
