It is the third season of the WRU’s innovative and all-inclusive matches at the home of Welsh rugby, and the winners on opening night were Bridgend & District Schools, Coleg Gwent and Llandovery College.
Bridgend carried off the Dewar Shield at the new U16 age level with a nail-biting 19-18 win over Mynydd Mawr & Dinefwr. It was the first time Bridgend had won since 1990.
The girls Welsh Schools U18 title remained in the hands of Coleg Gwent as they once again beat a highly competitive Llandovery College side 39-0 to extend their unbeaten run in the tournament, while the Llandovery College boys side became the first school team to win the WSC Rugby U18 Cup with a 28-13 triumph over Ysgol Glantaf.
The next round of matches in #RTP2024 will be on Tuesday, 19 March when the girls take centre stage with four cup finals from U12-18 age levels. The following four days will see three Welsh Senior Schools & Colleges Rugby Union U18 finals take place, five Welsh Schools Junior Group & Welsh Schools Intermediate finals, the WRU’s inclusivity day and then four Girls U18 WRU Hub finals wrapped around the Wales v Scotland women’s Six Nations match at the Arms Park.
The women will bring down the curtain on proceedings on Saturday, 27 April, when the three senior finals will be played after Wales meet Italy in the women’s Six Nations.
Earlier that month there will be two days of men’s club action with the Division 2-5 cup finals taming place on Saturday, 6 April, with the Division 1, Championship and Premiership finals being decided the next day.
