In a repeat of last season’s final, the Drovers were forced to come from behind in the second quarter, but once they got their noses in front they were ruthless to the end. They now lead Ebbw Vale by 10 points with a game in hand – with the chance to go 15 points clear this weekend when they head to Swansea.

“Any win at the Arms Park is a good one, but to score eight tries and pick up a bonus-point as well made it even more special,” said Llandovery head coach Euros Evans.

“Cardiff were missing a few players and we know that if we meeting them again in the play-offs they will be a different proposition. The major focus for us now is ensuring we clinch a home tie in the semi-finals with a top two finish.”

Cardiff drew first blood with the first of Joe Goodchild’s two tries and they led 19-7 after 20 minutes thanks to his second and another from Harrison James. But the Drovers hit back to lead 26-19 at the break.

Hooker Taylor Davies grabbed his eighth of the season to notch the first of the eight and the wing Jac Davies got another. Jamie Hughes and Nathan Hart both scored twice before Joseff Powell added another for the pack.

With Ioan Hughes landing six conversions, and Jac Maynard another, the Drovers raced into a 45-19 before Cardiff stemmed the tide with their bonus point score through Connor Vaughan.

The final word went to the Drovers as Craig Thomas completed the revival with an added time score.
