Easterby scored a vital try in the second half, but ended with his heart in hiss mouth as Haverfordwest had a conversion with the last kick of the game to level the scores and take a share of the title.
The nerves showed in opening exchanges as Bro Morgannwg knocked on in their 22 from the kick off and then Haverfordwest did the same as they broke from the first scrum. Even, so, it was the Pembrokeshire side that drew first blood when outside half Niall Smith landed a simple penalty after an offside verdict.
Two good sides then got stuck into a ding-dong battle as Bro Morgannwg, the Year 8 champions at Principality Stadium two years earlier, chased another trophy. Having fallen behind early doors, they conjured up a great response with a two try salvo from centre Jack Evans.
The first came after his skipper Easterby had won a turn-over penalty in the 22. The ball was spread wide to the left and Evans found himself on the outside with only 10 metres to run to score.
His second capitalised on a poor kick out of defence by Haverfordwest, which conspired to give him another easy run to the line. Neither try was converted and that meant when the outstanding Haverfordwest No 8 Harvey Thomas ploughed over for a try from a tap penalty.
Smith added the conversion and then kicked a penalty that gave the west Walians a 13-10 interval lead. That was never going to be a big enough lead to win such a competitive game and the result eventually went down to the final kick.
Haverfordwest skipper Rhys Lewis thought he had extended the lead early in the second half when he got up to, but not quit over the line. That golden chance was lost when the referee penalised him.
Then Bro Morgannwg struck from the base of a scrum 15 metres out when scrum half Owen Lewis sniped around the blindside and fed wing Tomas Powell. He used his pace and power to somehow get over the line with three players trying to stop him and that score put his side back into the lead.
Bro Morgannwg piled on the pressure and time after time the Go.Compare Player of the Match, lock Liam Williams, drive his side forward. It was from one of his powerful bursts into thee 22 that the ruck was formed from which Easterby picked up and raxed the final 10 metres to score.
The conversion from Rhys Muxworthy hit the upright and bounced out, so that gave Haverfordwest one last shot at saving the game. Summoning up every last ounce of energy, they somehow managed to break into the 22 and then gave Lewis a charge for the line that this time brought a try.
That handed Smith the chance to be the hero and tie the match with the last kick of the game. Credit to him for taking the shot, three quarters of the way out on the right because he had been suffering from cramp.
He gave it a good strike, but it wasn’t god enough and Bro Morgannwg hung on to win a nailbiter.
