Monmouthshire chasing revenge in WRU Inter-Districts Cup Final

Monmouthshire will be hoping for better weather than the last time they met Mid District last month when they meet again in the WRU Inter-Districts Cup final at Principality Stadium (Tuesday 26 March, 7.30pm).

Day 6 of #RTP24 will see last season’s runners-up, Mid District, return to the home of Welsh rugby hoping to improve on the 33-17 defeat they suffered at the hands of West Wales RU in April last year.

Tylorstown back row man Adam Phillips led the side a year ago and he is one of nine players returning for a second crack at taking the title. Joining him will be clubmates Keiron Richards and Aiden O’Donaghue, Penygraig’s David Thomas, Wattstown quartet Dan Lewis, Matthew Lewis, Jordan Williams and David Smith.

Mid District won the round-robin game against the men of Gwent at a rain-soaked Penygraig on 20 February 24-20. They drew 17-17 with the East District and pipped Central Glamorgan by two points.

Monmouthshire piled on the points last week in their home clash with East District as they ran our convincing 44-10 victors to book their ticket to Principality Stadium. They are led by Newport Saracens flanker Kirk Lewis.

He and his clubmates Dex Lewis and Pat James are due back at the stadium next week for the Division 4 Cup final against Tonna. Also returning will be the Blaina’s Corrie Thomas for the Division 3 Cup final.
