Bonymaen will be playing their rugby in the new 13-team community Premiership next season after a 33-24 win at Llangennech secured them a top five place in Admiral Championship West.

In the battle of third verses fourth, the visitors were inspired by Rhys Leonard’s brace and tries for Zach Pearce and Luke Darnell. Cameron Setter kicked the rest of their points.

Gareth George, Shaun Edwards, Liam Hutchings and Luke Davies were the Llangennech try scorers. Steff Marshall kicked two conversions. The win for Bonymaen also avenged their 27-21 home reverse by Llangennech just a fortnight earlier.

Narberth, Brecon, Llangennech and Bonymaen have all now cemented their place in the top five with just one spot left to play for between Dunvant, Crymych and Newcastle Emlyn.

Trebanos aren’t mathematically out of it yet but, given the fact they are nine points behind fifth with only two fixtures left, it would take a remarkable set of results for them to finish in the top five from here.

They did, however, pick up a 22-19 victory at Maesteg Quins. Iwan Temblett, Mackenzie Clayton and Cai Andrew went over for Trebanos. Rhys Harris added two conversions and a penalty.
Narberth took out the frustration of back-to-back defeats on Newcastle Emlyn as they returned to winning ways by running in 10 tries in a thumping 66-7 win on the road. Centres Hedd Nicolas and Ilan Phillips, along with full-back Ashley Sutton, were all at the double, with back-rower Guto Davies, wingers Josh Evans and Dean James and scrum-half Lewys Gibby also crashing over for the Otters.

Jon Rogers kicked eight conversions for Narberth – who had suffered cup semi-final heartache at the hands of Ystrad Rhondda followed by a first league defeat of the season in their previous two matches. Calum Evans replied for Emlyn with the try converted by Steff Evans.

Brecon, the side who ended leaders Narberth’s 100 per cent winning league record, backed up that win as they recorded a 32-17 triumph at Ammanford. Geraint Walsh scored twice, while Matthew Williams, Tomos Davies and Jake Crockett were also on the scoresheet for Brecon, who remain four points behind Narberth.

Dion McIntosh kicked two conversions and a penalty. Ceri Rees and Sion Williams were Ammanford’s try scorers, while Ryan Williams kicked two conversions and a penalty. Elsewhere, Dunvant’s clash with Ystalyfera was postponed.

In Admiral Championship East, leaders Cardiff Met missed the chance to make sure of their own top five finish but were stunned 25-23 at Cross Keys. Captain Corey Nicholls and Callum Tomsa were among the Keys scorers.

Newbridge recorded a thumping 55-22 victory against Rumney. Cian Jones’ double along with tries for Matthew McGovern, Josh Thomas, Iestyn Martin-Lloyd, Stuart Vokes and Ieuan Jones rounded off a magnificent win for the home side – Robbie Turley converted all seven tries and sent over two penalties for a match haul of 20-points.

Meanwhile, Aaron Billingham’s hat-trick set Bedwas on their way to a hard-fought 29-25 bonus-point victory at St Peter’s. Lewis Crane and Max Rivers also went over with James Dixon kicking two conversions.

Penallta came from behind to win 24-19 at Treorchy. Will Keep, Elliott Keep and Lewis Stevens powered over for the Pitmen. Joseph Scrivens converted all three tries and kicked a penalty.
