Oli Shepherd, Joe Davies, captain Cally James and a penalty try were on the scoresheet for Pontypridd. Jacob Symes added three conversions and two penalties.
Tries from Logan Yendle and Ashley Norton, both converted by Josh Prosser, had given Bargoed a 14-0 lead. Rhys Stephens added a third Bargoed try in the closing stages.
“Obviously we’re pleased with the result, a bonus point win to start. But I thought we were quite poor for the first 20-30 minutes,” said Ponty skipper James.
“We didn’t really get going, but we had a bit of a purple patch in that last 10 minutes of the first half and then second half we controlled it a bit better I thought.
“Fair play to Bargoed, they came out and played and were physical, as we expected, but when they get going and perform how they can do they’ll be a real threat to the league as well.”
