Ian Jones’ side were beaten twice by the Otters during last season’s Championship West promotion campaign but this time it was Llangennech who came out on top – a week on from their narrow 14-13 home defeat by Pontypridd.
Narberth had been leading 8-5 at the break thanks to Ashley Sutton’s try and a penalty from Jon Rogers against a Thomas Davies try for Llan.
But second half tries from Callum Jenkins and Kalum Evans, along with a conversion from Steff Marshall, ensured the visitors left the Lewis Lloyd Ground with four points to leave Narberth – last season’s Championship West winners – still searching for their maiden win in the Premiership.
Merthyr continued their relentless start with a thumping 61-10 defeat of Ystrad Rhondda at The Wern to make it four consecutive bonus-point wins. The sides had been first and second coming into the clash, and for the first half at least it looked every bit a top-of-the-table tussle.
But after a closely contested first 40 minutes which the Ironmen edged 14-10, the home side then ran riot in the second half.
Sam Cross and Jack Kathrens scored in the first half, with a further seven tries after the break from Ellis Shipp, Craig Locke, Dafydd Thomas, a brace from Tom Hughes, Kian Evans and another for Kathrens. Rhys Davies converted eight of the nine tries.
Jarrad Llewellyn got the visitors’ try, converted by Lewis Williams who also kicked a penalty for the visitors who earlier led 10-7 as the game approached half time.
Pontypridd are up into second after they made it three wins out of three by seeing off Newbridge 22-0 at Sardis Road.
Cai James, Louis Rochefort-Shugar and Kristian Park scored the tries for Ponty with Jacob Symes kicking two conversions and a penalty. Chris Dicomidis’ side are seven points back on leaders Merthyr.
Neath moved up to third with an entertaining seven tries to four 47-22 success over Cross Keys at The Gnoll, after leading 19-5 at the interval.
The Welsh All Blacks’ tries came from winger Matthew Jenkins (2), replacement Nathan Orrells, scrum-half Rhodri Cole, hooker Kian Jones, flanker Gethin Tremlett and outside-half Steff Williams. Williams added six conversions for a 17-point personal haul.
Keys, although trailing, kept going for the bonus point achieved via tries by hooker Nathan Huish, winger Duan Thomas and late on replacements Karl Vodden and Louis Pullen, with centre Adam Tetley converting one.
Sam Jones and Tomos Davies were both at the double to help steer Brecon to a 43-17 home win over Newcastle Emlyn. Geraint Clarke, James Dixon and Jake Newman were all on the scoresheet. Newman added four conversions.
Late tries from Harry Silman and Toby Clinch, both converted by Ross McKay, saw Cardiff Met come from 27-13 down to snatch a late 27-27 draw at home against Bargoed. Josh Hart scored Met’s other try, converted by Tom Howlett, who also sent over two penalties.
Kieron Brown and Jordan Howells were among the Bargoed try scorers.
