Wales and Blues flanker Robin Sowden-Taylor scored the match-winning try to inflict Bath’s first defeat at the Recreation Ground in over a year.
Although the win wasn’t enough for the Blues to progress to the semi-finals of the EDF Energy Cup, Young was delighted with the performance as his men now travel to Paris for the first match of a Heineken Cup double-header against tournament favourites Stade Francais.
Young said: “Bath haven’t lost here for a year so we’ve got to put this result right up there with one of our best.
“I’m really proud of the effort. We showed a lot of guts and determination and deserved to get the result. It was a real team performance – we were excellent in defence and we did a great job on the Bath set-piece.
“It’s disappointing not to go through, but we did all we could,” concluded Young.
