Fresh from their Heineken Cup victory against Stade Francais at the Arms Park on the weekend the players took advantage of some downtime in their busy pre-Christmas programme to make the visit, which is now becoming a regular entry on the Blues’ and Hospital’s respective calendars.
The players made visits to the children’s ward and also the special baby care unit where they met a family of triplets, children and family members and signed autographs and gave out posters.
The visit was co-ordinated by Nigel Way, Rugby Development Officer for MTCBC/WRU/Cardiff Blues, Sharon Draper Communications Officer for the North Glamorgan Hospitals Trust along with the Blues’ Richard Hodges and Gwydion Griffiths.
Children, parents and staff all took their chance to have photos with their heroes and had a chance to sit and chat.
This was one of three visits on the day: other squad members went to the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant, and University of Wales Hospital at the Heath, Cardiff.
The players who visited the Prince Charles hospital were: Ben White, Adam Powell, John Yapp, Andy Powell, Luke Evans, Tom Riley, Rhys Gill, Tom Shanklin, Rhys Thomas and Dai Flanagan, who all enjoyed coffee and mince pies before leaving.
