The weather forecast was for heavy rain and strong winds but it did not arrive until the game was over with everyone tucked into the clubhouse.
This was from a UWIC point of view a good physical encounter with Blaenau Gwent very effective at the contact area. Unfortunately neither teams’ line-out functioned as well as it did previously with the wind taking the honours.
From a UWIC performance it was very good on occasions, but a sheer lack of application and work rate, the girls know they did not perform with consistency throughout. However, with the long Christmas and New Year break over perhaps this had an effect which will certainly need to change as next Sunday they play Llandaff North away at Hailey Park.
The players that can take some credit from this win were Sally Hinds (1) at loosehead prop, the back row Carys John (6), Christie Thompson (7) Helen Amos (8), in the backline Amy Day (9) Rachel Poolman (10) Sammy Knighton (12) and Meg Youdan (13).
