Yatton U15 7 East Wales U14 65
Five from last year’s squad were invited back to play, as the age group in England is a year older than in Wales. The game started tentatively but within a couple of minutes a penalty try was awarded to the visitors and the flood gates opened with several tries scored before the interval.
The East Wales older girls played their part well making the ball available for their younger team mates to score. The younger ones all played in the second half and the tries still kept coming. However, the Yatton girls played much better in the second period and their hard work was rewarded by a great try by their second row.
The visiting forwards worked well, pressured the ball in defence and had some excellent drives in attack. The line-outs also went well, causing disruption to their opponents’ line-out. Several scrums were taken against the head thereby providing a good platform for the East Wales backs to demonstrate their running and passing skills.
The East Wales try scorers were Cherie Bessant (2), Georgia Teuma (Captain) (2), Amberley Ruck (2), Joanne Jones, Chloe Saunders, Cerys Ballett, Jade Harding and a penalty try. Five conversions were kicked by Brogan Jones.
The squad travel to Gloucester next on February 1st to take on Gloucestershire U15s at Kingsholm.
