Wales fly half Hook produced a magnificent RBS Six Nations man-of-the-match display together with 16 points to break the Dragons’ 20-year hoodoo at Twickenham last Saturday.
And the New Zealand fly half, regarded as the best No.10 in the world, has handed Hook the ultimate tribute by insisting the Ospreys star is world class.
All Black Carter, 25, said: “James has got to go out there and play with confidence because when he does that he backs his ability and he’s got great instincts.
“He’s a great player and he can definitely be as good as me,” he said. “What he has to do is to get more experience for Wales and the Ospreys by playing more games and becoming more consistent.
“James has just got to string some great performances together every week and play his own game.”
