Bosses at Stradey Park say the tuition will be essential for a clear understanding of changes being brought in by the IRB at the start of the new season.
WRU and Scarlets community rugby manager Jeff Roach said: “It’s imperative that all coaches make a big effort to attend a session as the changes affect the sport at mini, junior, youth and senior levels.”
The ELV’s, or Experimental Law Variations, have been trialed in the southern hemisphere over the past few months and are now being introduced in the northern hemisphere for at least a year.
Roach said: “Players, coaches, referees and spectators will all need to get accustomed to the new ELV’s. Our workshops for coaches will include a detailed explanation of the changes, a DVD showing examples of games played under the variations and a discussion which will help coaches make best use of changes.
“By the end of a session coaches should be able to return to their squads to explain clearly the changes to the players.”
WRU/Scarlets ELV workshops (all start at 7pm):
July 23 Carmarthen Quins RFC, open to all coaches.
July 23 Aberaeron RFC, open to all coaches.
July 30 Stradey Park, open to all regional age group, junior district and semi-pro coaches.
