The Cwmtawe Sevens, now in its 26th year, has delivered a range of goods to Morriston, Ystradgynlais and Gellinudd hospitals including a Bariatric Wheelchair a Sphighnomanometer and an Electro Acupuncture Unit.

“We ask the hospitals to specify equipment they would never get through normal channels,” said Bracey.

“We approach the hospitals and ask them what they need. The NHS provides the medical equipment so we try to find the peripherals.

“For example Morriston Hospital said they wanted some relining chairs for their emergency department, through the three fundraising events we put on, we were able to supply them.

Bracey is referring to a charity dinner and a golf tournament, that all fall under the Cwmtawe Sevens umbrella. “We put on three major events, we have a very big dinner in November and a golf tournament and everyone enjoys these events,” he said.

“The main point is that there is an end result, it’s very difficult to raise money for charitable donations and we couldn’t do this without the sponsors and we would like to thank Costain, Samauri Sportswear and the Towers Hotel.”

Cwmtawe Sevens takes place at Pontardwe’s Parc Ynysderw on Saturday. Play starts at 11.30 am with the main competition final scheduled for 6.30 pm.
