Porthcawl will go into today’s WRU National Bowl semi-final clash with Abercwmboi at Taffs Well buoyed by a 55-5 hammering of Glais last weekend.

It means the Seaweeds are all-set to try to make history for their club by reaching the Principality Stadium for the first time in their history. That win made it 11 out of 12 in Division 3A West Central and kept them on course for a possible league and cup double.

Their only league defeat came at Pyle on 30 December and they remain unbeaten this year. Abercwmboi earned the right to meet them when they beat Monmouth 21-10 in their delayed quarter-final.

Cardiff University will meet Pembroke in the other semi-final at Dunvant RFC. The students are still on for an amazing treble this season having already been crowned champions of the British University South A group and earning promotion into the prestigious BUCS Super Rugby tournament next season by beating Newcastle University in the play-offs.

WRU BOWL SEMI-FINALS – SATURDAY, 31 MARCH
Cardiff University v Pembroke (Dunvant RFC, 2:30pm)
