The Blues boss watched nervously from the Millennium Stadium touchline as his troops dug deep to complete a nine-six win over the most decorated side in European rugby history.

But nerves were gone in the post match press conference, and young hailed his growing team. “The players have improved game on game, season on season.

“We have been moving forward over the past two-to three years and its al culminated in this result.

“It was a great day both on and off the field. We made life difficult for ourselves but we got the result, and a place in the semi-final

Not only have the Blues impressed on the park, they have impressed off it. A second trip to the Millennium Stadium awaits them, and, in light of the record home crowd of 36,728 they pulled for today’s game, Young and co. won’t be too worried about rattling around in one of the largest stadium’s around.

And the coach paid tribute to the progress his side have made. He said; “For a Welsh team attendance to day is a great measure on how far the team has come in the past few years a measure of interest

“From the regions’ point of view it’s a great day and a great experience.”
