Winger Mike Poole went over five minutes beyond the 80 to hand the Black and Ambers, bolstered by six Newport Gwent Dragons players in their line-up, their fourth try in a 32-16 win.

The bonus means they trail league leaders Cardiff by five points, who also recorded the maximum five points on Friday night in a 29-13 win at Glamorgan Wanderers.

Pontypool full-back Geraint O’Driscoll missed a last-gasp conversion at Pontypridd, meaning the Premiership’s bottom club lost out 23-22.

Had O’Driscoll converted with the last kick of the game, Pontypool would have moved off the foot of the table.

Centre Kristian Owen had a dream debut for Bedwas, scoring a pair of tries in his new side’s 22-13 win at Cross Keys.
