Neither side has played for three weeks which is hardly ideal preparation for what should be the season’s showpiece but at stake is a visit to Sardis Road and the opportunity to steal the title of League Champions from Pontypridd who finished at the top of the table.

With no serious action recently, Neath welcome back several players but skipper Gareth Gravell misses the starting line-up following the tragic death of his father. He will though be on the replacements’ bench and will be keen to sign off The Gnoll campaign with a win.

Neath Head Coach Patrick Horgan, said: “The three-week gap in fixtures has been far from ideal but it has allowed our players to get over any lingering injuries and the squad is looking forward to the game.

“Although I am not a fan of the play-offs and, in common with most Neath people, feel that the team that wins the League should be champions, but we have been given one last bite at winning the title again and, as such, we will be going for it.

“Pontypridd have had a wonderful season but, with a much smaller pool of players to call upon, our boys have performed real heroics this season and deserve to get some reward for their efforts. This is typified by Gareth Gravell, our captain, and we will be trying to do it for him.

“Standing in our way, of course, are Llanelli and, with their regional duties done, we expect them to be firing all cylinders with a very strong side. It should be a good game on which to close down The Gnoll season.”
