He believes the team which turns victory at the breakdown into quick ball will hold the key to winning the game.

Jones declared: “The challenge against France is the contact area and if we can have quick ball we can play, but the French will be thinking the same. It is a key battleground.

“They’ll be feeling pretty good about themselves at the moment and if we do anything badly they will be looking to counter attack.

“We are looking forward to playing France because they have got so much talent throughout their side. We have got to put our own house in order, make sure we prepare well this week and get charged up for the game.

“We have put a lot of hard work into this competition and it would be great to get through to the final.”

The player who boasts 102 caps for Wales said the game is going to be huge for Welsh rugby.

He said: “This is a semi final of the World Cup and few games are bigger than that. It is quite simply a huge game and it is so important for rugby in Wales because it is capable of enhancing our position on the global map of rugby.

“The French will have passionate support at the game but we know Wales will have as well which will make it a cracking game between two great sides.

“From a Welsh perspective we know there are areas we need to improve on but we will work hard on that.”
