The home side found themselves seven points behind lowly Avon with tries from Sam Williams and Stef Andrews ensuring the travelers led 14-7 at half-time. However, a hat-trick from Rory Budina and further tries from Matthew John, Dean Gunter and Matthew Pewtner secured a valuable bonus point for the hosts. The result gave Aberavon a welcomed bonus point, but they stay only a point off the bottom.

Elsewhere, a comprehensive 36-3 for Pontypridd over rivals Neath at Sardis Road keeps Ponty in second place. A penalty by Dean Cummins provided tenth-placed Neath’s only consolation.

Carmarthen Quins swept away Bridgend 30-19 and secured a bonus point in the process after going over four times, with two tries coming from centre Jason Harris.

No points were scored in the second half between Newport and Llandovery with the match finishing 18-18. Dan Robinson and Adam Davies went over for hosts Newport while tries from Llandovery’s Andrew Claypole, Jack Roberts and Richie Pugh ensured both teams shared the spoils.

Cross Keys beat Llanelli 28-24 at home with a penalty try and a drop-kick by Dorian Jones helping them leap over the Scarlets into third place.
