For Blues hooker Kristian Dacey, Exeter Chiefs tight head prop Tom Francis and Scarlets scrum half Gareth Davies it will be a return to the venue where they played for Wales against the Super Rugby side last summer. Dragons lock Cory Hill joins them on the bench.
Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones is also among the replacements, along with the two Scottish call-ups, prop Allan Dell and outside half Finn Russell. The starting XV features Liam Williams at full back, Dan Bigar at outside half and Justin Tipuric in the back row.
“We are five games into the Tour and there is still a lot to play for. Those involved on Tuesday will be playing not only for themselves in terms of further selection but also for the whole squad,” said Lions head coach Warren Gatland.
“We are here to win a Test series and we have brought cover for the replacements bench so we can limit the number of players who need to double up, which is tough to do at this level of rugby.
“We know it is going to be another big challenge against the Chiefs who have won the Super Rugby title twice in the last five years.”
The test series against the Al Blacks kicks-off in Auckland on Saturday and the Lions gave themselves a huge boost with a 32-10 win over the Maori Al Blacks in Rotorua on Saturday. Steve Hansen’s New Zealand side have won their past 37 games at Eden Park, including Friday night’s 78-0 crushing of Samoa, and have won their last 46 in a row at home.
