Last season saw the Sardis Road club win a historic league and cup double and today, they added the inaugural club sevens title to their trophy cabinet.
In a double success, Pontypridd flyer Alex Webber took home the Colin Hillman trophy for player of the tournament, the Wales Sevens international producing a string of scintillating performances throughout the day.
It all culminated with Pontypridd’s crushing 57-5 final win over Llandovery in which Dafydd Lockyer and Geraint Walsh crossed for two tries apiece.
Here’s what McIntosh had to say immediately after his side’s triumph:
“We’re not going to take this into account going into the new season. The fact is we’ve got a lot of work to do before our first Premiership game against Cardiff.
“It’s been a great occasion. To be honest we came out here to enjoy the day and try and promote ourselves as a club.
“The boys have done that and in doing so have played some really good rugby as well.
“I think the competition will grow over the next couple of years and it’s a great credit to the WRU for organising it.
“We did target this competition as something we wanted to win but in terms of preparation for the 15 a side game, it’s totally different.
“Paul John is a legend at Pontypridd and also in the sevens game so this victory is as much down to him as anyone. I helped deliver what he coached so he deserves as much credit as anyone.”
