That’s the view of hooker Richard Hibbard, who will be taking the crunch meeting as a one off encounter. Both teams go into the game in south west London on the back of impressive victories. Wales comfortably got the better of France in a 27-6 win while England edged the previously unbeaten Ireland 13-10 in a brutal encounter.
“Every game is different and you take it game by game,” said Hibbard, who was a key man for the British & Irish Lions last summer.
“Last year’s championship is totally different to this one. I think it is going to be a physical encounter and very tough. England have had two great results since, so it is going to be a tough game against a very competent side playing well.”
With three rounds played in this year’s RBS 6 Nations, the championship is intriguingly set up with four teams level on points. Wales are joined by Ireland, England and France at the top of the table, Ireland leading the way courtesy of a better points difference.
On the challenge of facing Stuart Lancaster’s England, Hibbard added: “They are playing very well at the moment and they were unlucky not to get a result out in France.”
Hibbard has been an ever present for Wales in this year’s Six Nations, helping the side to bounce back from defeat to Ireland in Dublin against France.
“We got challenged by the coaches after Ireland – they threw the gauntlet down and we had to answer it,” he said.
“Right across the squad, from one to 23, it was a good performance and we showed what the coaches were looking for.
“We had to be better against France and just had to be better at everything.”
